About South Lyon, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Located in southwestern Oakland County, South Lyon is a city found in Michigan’s Metro Detroit area. As of 2010, approximately 11,400 people called this community home. In addition to being located 45 miles west of Detroit, the city is also 19 miles north of Ann Arbor and 58 miles east of Lansing. South Lyon was originally known as Thompson’s Corners when it was founded in 1832, but the name was quickly changed in order to honor State Legislator Lucius Lyon. The area school district consists of two public high schools – South Lyon High and South Lyon East High.

South Lyon is home to several events and attractions that might be of interest to area residents. One of the biggest events in the community is Pumpkinfest, which takes place over the last weekend of September. Events include carnival food, rides, games, musical entertainment, a parade, and a dog show. South Lyon’s McHattie Park is found in the community, and it is the site of the Witch’s Hat Depot Museum and Historic Village. Public events like the summertime Concerts in the Park series and Depot Days are both held here.

Whether you are traveling to South Lyon or are thinking of making the community your new home, you’ll want to know what you can expect in terms of the weather. The greatest weather extremes occur in the summer and winter months, although the region is extremely popular for summertime travelers. Conditions are warm, sunny, and humid, with average daily highs in the 80s. After spending the day outdoors soaking up the sun, most residents will enjoy returning home to a house that is cooled with an energy efficient air conditioning unit.

The winter months are a different story, as conditions can become dangerous without the right climate controls in place. With an average of about 60 inches of snowfall each year and freezing temperatures, the right furnace can make all the difference in getting through the winter comfortably. HVAC pros recommend that residents have their systems serviced during the calmer autumn months to ensure they are ready to go when the coldest weather moves into the area.
